macrobiotic diet?

My Kung Fu Sifu has been pushing this diet like the gospel. Anyone on it right now? It seems like a total life change and very complicated. I have kids and I don't want to cook more than one meal a night. I really don't see my kids eating like this. I can't get them to eat the food I cook now!

All of these new diets that are so strict and regimented scare me. I love to eat! I love good food, which is why even though I work out everyday I am still about 15 pounds over my target weight.

At what point should your diet run your life?

any diet that condemns meat is suspect. imo. do not push such a radical diet on your children either. kids need candy and junk food...its part of being a kid for christ's sake.

Here's what they tell you to expect:

* General fatigue
* Aches and pains
* Fevers, chills, and coughing
* Abnormal sweating and frequent urination
* Skin discharge and unusual body odors
* Diarrhea or constipation
* Decrease in sexual desire and vitality
* Temporary cessation of menstruation
* Mental irritability
* Disturbed sleep

That doesn't sound healthy to me.

I've been on Atkins for a few weeks. Lost 15 pounds.

all of these diets seem to be pointing in the same direction.

eat healthy foods, cut back on the sugars and high carb foods, don't consume an over abundance of fats.

basically eat a bit of everything and not too much of one thing.

seems reasonable

Sounds like you've talked yourself out of it; good. I've known a few guys who tried it and a) you've got to try really hard to do it right, b) health problems are possible, and c) and I know people just as healthy as them who eat conventional diets. Get exercise, buy and eat high quality nutritious food, consume in moderation, and you'll be all right.

*Increase complex carbohydrates
*Eliminate refined and processed sugar
*Reduce fat (especially fat from animal sources)
*Reduce cholesterol
*Eliminate refined salt
*Avoid junk food
*Don't Overeat and be sure to chew well

^sorta the basis of the thing. sorta veganish, but seems like a big change.
