Dumbell Usage.

Hey.
One of my friends recently gave me a set of dumbells.
What can I do with these things other than building my biceps?
Does anyone know of any dumbell excerices that can do anything other than bicep/tricep building?

Aside from your neck and lats, you can work every upperbody mucle using dumbells. Be more specific on what muscle you want to train then I will tell you a few dumbell exercises for it.

Insane
 
you can do shoulders:
- shoulder raises in front of you and to the sides while standing up.

- shoulder press while sitting down or standing up - just like the "military press"

- if you can find an incline bech, you can sit/lay on it on your stomach and raise the dumbells forward, to the sides and to the back - kinda like reverse flies. works great for shoulders and treps.

you can also do your fore-arms by curling your wrists.

for legs, you can do lunges while holding the heavy dumbells. gives tone to your ass as well.

and you can do chest/triceps exercises

You can also do:

- Shrugs for your traps

- Standing upright row for traps

- Bent over dumbell row for shoulders

- Front dumbell raise for shoulders

- Forward & reverse wrist curls for forearms

- Flat & Decline dumbell flys & press for chest.

There's like 100 different exercises you can do with 2 dumbbells, by the way how many lbs are they?? I have 2 25 lbs one's I work out with everyday. Just to name a few exercises: Dumbbell power clean, Unilateral squat, Dumbbell bench press, Piston shoulder press, Dumbbell calf jump, One arm row, and Dumbbell biceps curl. If you need me to break down the exercise just post the one's you wanna know about.

It'd probably be worth the $20 or so to buy a book on lifting excercises. If you don't want to spend the money, just swing by the bookstore and thumb through some of the pages to get some more specifics

omg well i could try to coach you in the world of dumbells but that would be pages, and pretty pictures really help.........

so, go online and search for online books, (trust me the pics really help so you know your doing it right and so that you don end up hurting yourself)
