just got back from a confernece at new orleans; what a great city, excellent excellent food; if you ever get the chance make sure you hit up an all-star restraunt named brenans, as well as an extrodanary sushi place called kanno.

i spent 600 in 7 days on food alone, i feel....fat.

The last time I was there, '93, I felt drunk until the next Friday! I had gotten home on a Sunday. I love the city, except for the crime rates, and all the ambulances that seem to never stop. Both times there I stayed just outside the French Quarter, can't remember the hotel though. The 3/4 mile walk to the quarter did me some good.

I would recommend people not calling it 'Nawlins' when you are in New Orleans.

new orleans is quite an interesting place:
french quarter differences of the day and night (wow)
food (jacomoes [spelling?] is a great hole in the wall creole/new orleans place)
cultural differences (rich or touristy areas as compared to the poorer parts...it would seem that such a tourist funded city would help out the poor more often)

anyway, i'm in baton rouge and new orleans is just an hour away by car. it's definitely a nice getaway every once in a while.
