Caffeine and Weightloss

I've heard that caffeine can be an inhibitor to weight loss, and also that it can help with it. And most of the weight loss pills contain caffeine or guarana in them. Is there a real answer for this or is it subjective as to what your diet is like, what your excersise level is like, and how much caffeine you're taking in?

I would have searched except when I tried I got...

Caffeine does speed up the metabolism slightly and it also causes the body to put a little more fat to be consumed into the bloodstream. So it does help with weight loss. By itself it does not do much, but mixed with ephedra and aspirin it can be pretty effective. It does have more effect with long exercise sessions of a cardiac ature, because as blood sugar levels drop, the body has more free faty acids to consume.

what he said. also note that the caffeine itself makes a difference too in this picture. Caffeine from coffee or soda isnt going to do anything to aid you, however green tea supposedly does (not sure why, maybe pocon1 will know).

Caffeine is also a diuretric (sp?) in that it makes you "wanna piss"
So it will get rid of some fluid in you, but weight loss, through loss of water doesn't really count

If you drink coffee otr caffeine, it's always important to replenish your water.

Not sure about any other reasons though, like what pocon1 pointed out..

How about guarana, or other types of coffee, is it more or less effective? And what kind of a bonus, is it like +0.01% more effective, and is that benefit negated by the content of whatever you have to consume to recieve the caffeine?

No, coffee does nothing but dehydrate you. I avoid coffee unless I am having a very hard time waking up.

caffeine is very filling- I drink a latte in the morning and that is my breakfast. sad, I know.
but I believe it, because it fills you up. that's a latte i speak of tho, it might be different with regular coffee.

tea actually contains a second, caffiene like substance, which i can't remember the name of. i think it starts with a T. which is really no help. knowing that it start with a "T", that is.

the big thing with green tea is that it has major antioxident properties.
