Elevated ALT levels
Ok, so a couple of time, not all the time, but a couple of times when I've donated blood, I've gotten a message back that I've got an elevated ALT level.
How serious is this? I'm actually about to go on an alcohol fast for a month to do another blood test with my doctor, to do some tests on my triglycerides, and I'm going to have them check this out at the same time. But should I be worried?

Good ideas get a before and after with the exclusion of ethanol
ALT = amino alanine transferase and is usually elevated with liver cell injury and/or infectious hepatitis. Ethanol can obviously cause liver cell damage but other LFT's like; SGGT and AST and full blood's will make the results clearer
