Rashes!!! ARGH!

I always thought I wasn't allergic to anything, but last night, after a meal and a little alcohol [the culprit must be the cheese and hte alcohol amplifies the allergic symptoms], I am covered with ghastly rashes.

It's red and bumpy and tichy and all over my back and shoulder and chest. It's been a day and it has not gone down at ALL. HELP! Pity my wretched state! What can I do to make it go away?

Have you been scratching? Your best bet is to probably use some calamine lotion and wait it out for a day or two. If it doesn't start to go away, consult a doctor.

An anti-histamine tablet or lotion from the local chemist usually fixes most minor rashes. If you're really concerned, see a doctor to make sure it isn't anything more than an allergic reaction.

Oatmeal bath (Aveno or just put some oatmeal into the blender and grind to a rough powder). Definately the antihistamine tablet nfa mentioned is a good idea too.

Another possibility is Topical dermatitis. Cheese is not as common an allergen - not that it can't be but that if your allergic to cheese you usually have other allergies as well. The scents in detergents, deoderents, lotions, fabric softeners can be a problem. Have you changed any of your soaps or lotions recently? Is your skin dry and more sensitive to current soaps or lotions. Try changing your detergent, fabric softener and your bath soap. I had an all over reaction to a fabric softener I had been using for several months. I changed the fabric softener and rewashed my clothes and bedsheets in the new stuff and got relief within days.

Unless you were to get tested it's just trial and error. Keep trying until you find something that gives relief. If this doesn't start clearing up a few days after eating the cheese I would suggest checking out your soaps and detergents.
