Weight loss question

I am looking for information about how fat is distributed in the body and what order do these areas lean out.

Does fat exist underneath the abdominal muscle wall? I would like a flatter stomach.

Will diet and exercise effectively remove it or do I need to target it with ab exercises?

Any suggestions for the shedding the last few pounds would be great.

Links would be great too.

Thanks,
Boo

From what I remember from my health class, targeting a certain area of the body does not do anything special for that certain area in terms of fat loss. You can build muscle there, but that's about it. There is no way to make a certain area of the body lose fat, you just have to exercise and hope that your body chooses to take the fat off where you want it to.

Working out your abdominal muscles will not give you a flatter stomach, although it will give you better definition when they begin to show through. Fat loss is the only means of actually getting those stomach muscles to show through, but unfortunately, man people will burn fat from their stomachs last in reference to the other parts of their body. This is why the perfect "six pack" is so elusive.

There's really no absolute science behind dieting. There are all these diet regimens out there, but it all comes down to intake and expenditure. However, the tricky part is to follow through with a consistent exercise program. Here's an example for you. 2.2 lbs of fat is approx 1kg which is approx 9000Kcal. If you want to lose this in one month you must one way or another, have an energy balance of -300 every day for 30 days. That's why it's hard. As for fat distribution, most adipose tissue overly muscle i the subcutaneous region. For men, this tissue distributes primarily around the abdomen, and women the hips. Working one part of you body will not, exclusively burn fat from that region. What you have to do is burn off all the excess calories, and strengthen the muscles to achieve your desired outcome. Hope this helps.
