I probably won't be much help considering I spend all my free time playing video games or watching movies. That's pretty much all I do
I usually workout an hour a day. When I joined my gym back in 2002, they told me, "After you start exercising regularly and lifting, you'll find that you have more energy than you know what to do with AND you'll get better sleep!" Err.. I'm still kinda waiting for that :P (and I eat *VERY* clean), so I'm in the same boat as you. I just started a 6 week course in Calc I at my college, so that eats up about 3-4 hours per night of my time.

In the winter, when I am home, bake bread or invent new soup recipes.
Otherwise, I'll do beading (jewelry making), paper crafts (I make greeting cards), draw (there's always pencils and a pad in my suitcase so I do that when travelling to), when I am in a hotel and can't sleep, I'll often get dressed, and head out to the street and take pictures.

I just finished a rather geeky project... it took me about a week. I built a couple of temperature probes that plug into my computer, and I wrote some software to chart the temperature inside and outside my house during the day. It even posts the info to my internet account every half hour so that I can check it from work or if I'm away for the weekend.
Now that the weather is nice, I have to spend all my free time doing gardening. It looks like regrowing grass on my front lawn is going to be a major project this summer. Stompy: As for the exercise, are you sure you are doing it right? I found when I worked out regularly I did feel better during the day. I'm not sure that I slept better, unless I got a LOT of exercise during the day. For example, I just golfed 18 holes and I'm sure I'll sleep like a baby tonight. |

I have no spare time, this past year. I'm in an accelerated master's degree program, student-teaching full-time, and looking for work. I'm constantly looking over my shoulder to see what might be gaining on me.
When I did have free time, I liked to work out at the gym, ride a bike around town, walk, read, and tear up the garden. |

spend 3 weeks researching about them, then go out and buy yourself a fish tank.
within 6 months you'll have decided you want an even bigger one, then 6 months after that an ever bigger one than the new one. keeps you occupied on a long term scale |

I do not have much spare time, but when I do, I either grab my camera and go take pictures of stuff, grab my megatar and annoy the neighbors with my complete lack of musical prowess, or work on my website. On the weekends I go rollerblading or extended photo shoots (this weekend I'm thinking of going to the zoo to try out my new zoom lens )
You need to pick up a hobby - something you enjoy doing "just because". I will recommend the thing I am most familiar with: photography. Got a digicam? Great! Don't have one? Buy a Canon film SLR that accepts EF lenses. They are relatively cheap, and will get you off to a good start incase you get GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome ) and feel like buying a DSLR. Its a very rewarding experience.

Gaming, reading, taking pictures, whacking, random internet surfing, and the never ending battle with my laundry pile pretty much occupy my time.
oh, that and finding new and painful ways to make my food spicier.

spare time? eh... i'm probably right here mostly.
for a while i guess i thought all i had was spare time... now i am running as fast as i can to catch up, so i am less online & working my tail off instead. before the computer... i used to garden, do aerobics, take classes, crafts, paint, draw, snap photos, lots of things... it's just there's so much one can do with a computer. i'm still trying to catch up, but i've reached a point where i'm needing some RL balance.

Computer games, TV, reading, meditation, drinking alkeehawl, cooking (takes up a lot of time if you want it to).
edit: Psycho, how he works out would not affect whether or not he slept well. It might affect whether or not he builds muscle, etc, but using energy is using energy no matter the manner in which it is used. Last edited by PhatnS2pid; 05-17-2004 at 06:31 PM.. |

Lesse... Coach my daughter's softball team. Turn perfectly good pieces of wood into sawdust in my shop. Play guitar. Vedge in front of the TV.

I try to stay active in my spare time, after sitting at a desk all day I need to do something. Thank god I stopped eating chips at work!
I play hockey a few nights a week, go to yoga with the wife, play king of the monsters with my dogs, try to be a "handyman" around the house...this has been improving, thanks to the How To fourm That pretty much takes up my spare time these days. |

I really like to excercise so that'd probally be on my list of favorite things to do when I'm bored. I also clean allot when I have nothing to do, or am trying to put off the studying I know I should be doing. This thread reminds me of an away message a friend of mine puts up often: "Idle hands spend time at the genitals, and you know how much God hates that." |

Hmm, let's see, when I'm not doing necessary stuff like drawing, talking to a certain girl on the phone, or surfing the net, I occasionally spend my free-time going to class or sleeping.
What's sad is, I really view things this way...which is probably why my grades suffer so.
