lose fat or gain muscle

I have been working out, and I like the results I am getting. I do the protein shakes and all that, the only problem is that I am just gaining muscle and keeping the fat that I have. Its not a lot I just want to take it off.

Is there a way to gain muscle and lose the fat or am I going to have to choose one or the other. Such as cutting the calories to lose the fat but lose in the muscle gain or vise versa??

are you sure youre keeping the fat? if youre staying the same weight then you may be gaining muscle/losing fat. you should check and monitor your body fat %, thatll tell you whats goin on a little more than just your weight. excercise and diet are what ya need to do, and be consistent. it doesnt happen overnight, unfortunately

Are you just lifting weights? You need to include cardio in your work out everyday and the fat should start to melt away. Try to do 20-40 minutes 3 times a day.

go back to running -- there is no substitute. it is hands down the best fat-burning cardio workout you can do.

You can't ever cut and gain muscles at the same time. They are two seperate things. To gain muscle you have to eat more calories than you burn. To cut, you have to burn more calories than you eat. What are your goals? If you want to be muscular, keep bulking up and then cut for a few months and then bulk for a few months, ect ect.

to gain muscle you need to consume more calories then you burn. that means you will gain some fat. what is your goal? lose fat or gain muscle? its alot easier to do one or the other then try and do both at the same time.

when you say your not losing fat how do you know...what type of measuring did you do?
