neck toning

Hey guys, I've been concerned about my neck, I mean I sure as hell dont want to gain size in the neck so I haven't been working it out in any way, straining, or whatever. I have recently noticed that when I look down even slightly I get that neck flab going on, which doesent really match the rest of my body that I have been working on toning at the gym. OK, if that doesent make any sence my question here is: how would one tone their neck with out increasing size?

you cant tone individual body parts
if you want to lose fat off of a certain part, you need to lose fat, which means you need your body to be operating in a calorie deficit

I concur. You also may just be getting skin on your neck and have to chalk it up to genes....

I'm not trying to loose fat, I'm just trying to tone. I have 7% body fat right now so that is not much of a concern. You know that after not using a body part much or not working out with a certian body part it becomes pretty soft and the skin does not adhere to the muscle as it really should. Well that's what I believe that has happened to my neck because I was afraid to strenght train with it for fear that I might become a pencil neck. Does anyone know how to train one's neck without increasing size?

One thing that I've heard that works for toning neck muscles and keeping under chin areas nice and tight is practicing more oral sex on your partner. Works for both genders. If you want a more PG version, you could say kissing, but working with your tongue should keep things tightened up. Plus it makes good fun with your SO!!

And, yes Cowman, you can tighten up and tone focused areas of your body. I agree that you can't lose fat in a particular area without total body fat loss, but you can definitely make a particular area look better by tightening up the muscles in that area. With our 7% body fat friend here, that seems to be the concern.

The first two will tone your neck without making it look like your third thigh.
