Can I use an electric facial shaver to keep my head nice and bald?

Hey people, lately I have been considering replacing my old school disposible razor blades with an electronic shaver. The thing is, I also shave my head because I grapple and I hate having all that nasty wet hair on my head. So I was wondering, can I kill two birds with one stone and buy an electric razor for my face, and then also use it on my head? It seems like by using the shaver on my head as well as my face I would be quadroopling the surface area the razor would have to shave and I'm not sure what effect this would have on the life of the electric razor, which can be pretty pricy from what I understand.

If anyone has had any success doing this and can recommend a good electric facial shaver I would be much appreciative. Thanks!

i have a norelco electric razor that i used to use a lot, and every once in a while i will go through a couple months where i keep my head shaved. i tried using the electric razor on my head for a while, and here were my experiences: it didn't get as close of a shave as a regular razor, which i didn't mind so much. it's also VERY time consuming. i thought that it wouldn't take that long, but since the hair on your head is a lot more concentrated, you have to go over spots several times. i'd say it took me a good 20 minutes or so to completely shave my head with an electric razor. it only takes me 10 with a regular razor. shaving your head with an electric razor also dulls the blades a lot more quickly, so instead of having to replace them every six months or so, you're looking at replacing them every two months, and at 30-60 bucks a set, that's kind of pricey.

however, don't just take my word for it. i only used the norelco razor (i don't remember which specific model). maybe they make other electric razors out there that would better suit your needs. you could try talking to a barber to see what they would suggest. i will add one more thing though: overall, i wasn't too impressed with using an electric razor. it didn't cut nearly as close as with a regular razor, and even after using it for over six months, it still gave me bad razor burn (which was supposed to go away after a month or two). so, do a little research before you make this investment, because they are quite pricey. hope i helped you out a bit!

I agree with degraw I shave my head every other day or so, with shaving cream and a mach3. I've also bought electric razors, but they are more time comsuming, and you don't get a great shave out of them, and yes.. they won't last as long. If you plan on shaving your head on a weekly basis or more, then use a razor.. if your interested check out this place HEAD SHAVE CENTRAL they have alot of good info there..

I'll third that. The best way to shave your dome is manually. Takes less time and you get a closer shave.

I have to agree with degraw. I use an electric on my head every once in a while but I prefer a blade. The electric takes longer, doesnt do as good a job, and burns. The best i have found is that mach III that vibrates. Close shave, hardly ever nicks, and its really easy to rinse all that thick stubble out of. I also reccomend the shaving cream from headblade (i think its called head slick) you can get it at walgreens or from www.headblade.com. I tried their razor too but while i like the concept those blades were killing my head. If they made an attachment for mach iii blades it would be a great product.

I don't know man. I use my norelco and it works just fine. Gotta clean the heads continuously though. (Although admittedly I don't have that much hair to begin with.)

So does head hair eventually learn to stop growing quite as fast as normal? Cause if I had my head shaved im pretty sure I would have to do it just about everyday to keep it completely bald. I have to get normal haircuts just about once every 3 weeks....

I find that the more I shave the quicker it grows back. But then again, I'm slowly losing it all anyway.... so...
