Going to Greece this summer

Hi guys,

I'm going to Greece and Turkey this summer. I just wanted to know if anyone else is going to be there too.

Be sure to enjoy the beaches and history. May I enquire which regions of Greece and Turkey you will be visiting?

Sure, no probs.

I'm actually doing a summer abroad, travel study thingy so I'm with the school program. The classas I'm enrolled in are History: Ancianet Civ and Med Cultures (I am too lazy to look up the actual course name, and besides, I'm a bit tipsy at the moment )

My iteneray (in a nut shell): Athens, Corinth, Nauplion, Sparta, Olympia, Delphi, Marathon, Thermopylae, Thessaloniki, back to Athens. Then, seven day cruise of Aegean...

Then, we go to Turkey! Istanbul (which was one Constanipole but it's now Istanbul...) for 2 days, then on to Mykonos, Kusadasi, Patmos, Rhodes, crete, then back to Athens where an exhausted but exilerated jorgelito goes home to LA! Whew!

Care to join?

Nah, I'm going to Hong Kong myself. My grandparents live in Athens, and have a flat near Marathon (in Nea Makri). I'm interested in all the history of the area, so I have been to the museum in Marathon. You will also see the two burial mounds of the Greek soldiers in Marathon. My Grandfather knows his history very well, so he was able to explain exactly what happened there in depth, so you'll probably get an even better idea about how the battle proceded. I have been to southern Turkey aswell (near Antalya), there are many Roman ruins there. Amazing places and landscape alround. Don't forget your swimming gear, it'll be very warm and I can assure you the sea looks very appealing. Have fun!

I'm going there to visit my dad. He recently moved there from Singapore. Really looking forward to it, sounds like there are alot of things to see and do.

I've visited Antalya Turkey twice with the Navy and was really impressed with the place. We were expecting a craphole but Turkey really mixes the modern with the traditional. Antalya is the centerpiece of the "Turkish Riviera" and I highly recommend it if you can make it.

As for Greece, ah, Greece. So many memories. I've been to Xania Crete twice (bought my wife's engagement ring there), Rhodes, and Corfu twice. Best liberty in the Med. I hope you make Corfu on your Aegean cruise. It's amazing during the summer. I spent a whole week at Ipsos beach.

Have fun, if I could snap my fingers and be there, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
