Yesterday my family and I went to the Goodwood Revival Festival, widely accepted as the best historc motorsport event on the planet.

The goodwood motorcircuit is on the perimiter road of the old WW2 RAF airfield, and was active from 1948 to 1966. It re-opened in 1997.



Because of its aero herritage, they bring in a load of warbirds every year too!

Sadly the ISO had a rather stunning crash.



But the driver (a very experienced professional driver called Martin Stretton) was stretchered out with only a broken elbow!







The whole event has a 40s and 50s theme, and costume is actively encouraged.

I have the great fortune to live within a 1 hour drive.

Next year we're planning on going to the Festival of Speed (google it). A few years ago I went there and was bumped into by Phil Hill and troden on by Stirling Moss.

Moss is bloody short!

I would love to see that someday. Growing up as an ardent road racing fan in the '50's and '60's, even though I was in the U.S., Goodwood was very significant to me.
