Jeep Wrangler Experts?

I have a 92 Jeep Wrangler:

33 Thornbirds TSL
2 inch body lift
Dick Cepeck Susp 4inch

I plagued by: having to replace the muffler every year or less
snapping bith front and back U joints
and a few other things

Common sense would say get rid of it, but when its running I love it, and I have so much in it now. Is anyone knowledgable about such things?

is it just the muffler or whole exhaust system? and is it an internal thing, or external like you might be bashing it on rocks and need something to protect it?

When the jeep was lifted whoever lifted it might not have considered the stress being put on the driveshafts and u-joins cause by that extra 4 inches. I think there is some kind of adapter out there to where you can leave your tranny in its original place and use the adapter to lower the transfer case a bit to help with angles(I'd put a skidplate under it too just in case). Or you could go out and have custom driveshafts made that would be a tad bit longer and beefier to handle the extra stress caused, but thats not very cheap. I'm not the expert I used to be, but I hope I helped.

Why are you having to replace the muffler every year? Is it because of rust? If so, get a stainless exhaust system, or a aluminized one. Both are not cheap, but will last a long time.

The u-joint issue is most likely the result of an improperly installed 4" suspension lift. When you lift the YJ's that much, you should install the slip yoke eliminator kit and a CV rear driveshaft. What is happening now is that the ujoints are binding as the suspension cycles. The ujoint angles are too great for ujoints to handle.

Yeah look into getting a stainless steel Exhaust system.
I put a dynomax muffler and aluminum tail pipe on mine.

You might also want to look into getting a slip yoke eliminator. It will allow for a longer rear drive line helping out the angle. Usually any more lift than 3 inches of lift you would need one. You may be able to get away with a transfer case drop and a motor lift. Thats is what I am running currently but I plan on getting the slip yoke eliminator soon.

Here is a good price on a sye/rear drive line combo

Comes with a good driveline....

Jeepforum.com is a good place to learn about your jeep.
another one that i like is www.jeepsunlimeted.com its a little bigger.

Thanks for all the help.

THe muffler keeps breaking at the seems. I havent been rough on it in the last 3 years.

The Ujoints are a problem. Has anyone ever dealt with a multi joint ujoint? THe thing that pisses me off is I had this done in Hawaii and I dropped 7 grand to guys that obviously didnt know wha the hell they were doing. Not that I do, but for that kind of money I would have thought they would do it right.
