Looking for a sedan or coupe in that price range. Most important aspect would be that it has some power but can't be manual

VW Mk4 Jetta/Golf (If you can find one for that, have to be close to that range though, not 100% sure)

Personally, 6-7k. Saturns are pretty inexpensive to buy used, Neons. I'd try to find a Subie or a Toyota though, they run for freaking ever!

I have a '79 Ford LTD custom conv. with hydros and a stereo that I will sell for $6k obo.

85 Riviera (thats a 2 door)
87 Cavalier 4 door

hell, I'll even deliver them for that price.

Look for a late 80's t-bird with the turbo motor. Should be in that price range.

Volvo. Any model you can find with under 150,000 miles. Sure to get you at least another 100k with nothing more then routine maintenance.

In the 6-7k range an earlier 90s 900 series sedan or wagon is easily within that range.

I can not think of a model even available with a manual (since 1989 or pre 2000)...nor one that I would try and disuade you from purchasing.
