 :hmm:

OMG.....just wow.... Now that my kinda torque machine :D

Seriously though....thats just crazy....imagine the force, and traction, necessary to do that...man....

BoCo 11-02-2003 04:45 PM

They must have cut back on frame material in order to save weight.

merkerguitars 11-02-2003 09:43 PM

Just imagine how scared the driver is....and the sound that must of made.

Moonduck 11-02-2003 09:53 PM

If I had to guess, it wasn't that they cut back on material to save weight, it was probably metal fatigue, stress cracks, etc.

0001 11-02-2003 10:43 PM

holy SHIT

BooRadley 11-02-2003 11:07 PM

It looks like it was caused by excessive rear wheel traction!

Car wants to wheelie, frame doesn't want to respond quickly enough, car breaks itself in half :)

bundy 11-03-2003 01:27 AM

dammit.
that would be so frightening sitting in that little cockpit when your ridiculously fast vehicle splits in half.
would have been worth the price of admission though to see that... (was that a little insensitive??)

supafly 11-03-2003 03:30 AM

What i would like to know is: What happened after this picture?

Moonduck 11-03-2003 05:02 AM

A wreck. The driver probably walked out with no major issues. Probably.

Peryn 11-03-2003 10:17 AM

My guess is that the driver was fine. He is on the fron half. I bet that half just went skidding to the end of the track, while the engine and wheels went spinning and flipping around causing destruction to everything behind him. Hes probably fine, minus the skidmarks he left in his clothes...

Moonduck 11-03-2003 11:55 AM

Events like that are precisely why drag racers stopped using Slingshot rails. With the driver placed in front of the engine, instead of behind it like on the old rails, you tend to leave much of the carnage behind by simple virtue of speed and position. You also have MAJOR scattershields between your backside and the engine.

Peryn's right though, bet he had to have his firesuit steam-cleaned.

acpower 11-04-2003 04:02 AM

how scary

Snakebyt 11-04-2003 12:03 PM

its just plain scary the power those cars make, i know i would be scared to be behind the wheel of one

sTghezzo 11-07-2003 10:56 PM

well when your cranking out thousands of horsepower, and forget to properly stabilize your frame, this is the result
