Anybody here have any long-term experience with the Accord V6? I drove a friend's over the weekend and loved it. Very powerful and tight handling vehicle with very nice cockpit appointments. The car feels very tightly made. The leather seems to be much more substantial than that found in Nissans, that's for damned sure.

I can pick one up fully loaded for about $24k from a NYC car broker. That seems like a good bargain since it feels and drives like a car priced north of $30k.

Opinions, good and bad, are much appreciated.

Definately a reliable car. I have a 96 EX with 130,000 and has never been to the shop except for a timing belt change (required at 90k) and oil changes. It's nice not to have to crawl under your car on a reglar basis to keep it on the road.

I vote yay. Honda is perhaps the best engine manufacturer in the world. I have a 2003 Accord with a V6 and love it. Had a 4 cylinder Accord for my last car and liked it just fine, but now that I've gone up to the 6 I don't think I could possibly go back.

My buddy had an early 90's Accord that finally got pulled off the road because he got a new one and it had 450,000 KM and it was still running.

Thanks for the thoughts, gang. When you come right down to it, it's a slightly de-contented Acura TL (less than the ES300/Camry difference) for a ton less dough. I'm liking it a lot. Spending money for a "status" badge does not to me make a smart car buyer. A smart buyer gets the best car for the least amount of money unlesss, of course, you have so much that it really doesn's matter, relatively speaking. And that's fine too.

Ive got an '03 V6...well the worst thing about it is the gas mileage. 12-15 mpg city but *much* better for highway driving. Im totally satisfied with the car overall, its a great combo of speed, handling, comfort, looks, practicality and reliability. A ton of car for the money.

The most practical swap for your car is a prelude (h22) motor swap (190-200hp). It's still a 4 cyl. but you'll definately notice the difference from your current motor.

Yup. That's a very entertaining swap, and there's enough room left over for forced induction if you want even more power.

You are right about an Accord being a re-badged Acura. That's exactly what we thought when we bought our V6 Coupe in 2000. It's got 155K on it now and we are going to be handing it down to my daughter at the end of this summer.

We have had at least one Honda in our garage since 1983.
