aww...that was bullshit...

i got my suburban all running and everything, so i went out for a test drive into town...

half way to town one of the hose clamps on guy's fucking ghetto trans line solution of steel - rubber - steel came off ans sprayed all my fucking trans fluid all over the underside and rear end of my suburban...disabling the driving function of the vehicle...so i got out of the road, took a look under it and the steel line had moved over and wrapped around the U joint on the front driveline... so since he had so much excess, i cut about 6 inches off with a pipe cutter and slipped the rubber over the end using new hose clamps...then refilled the tranny...third gear feels funny now...but it runs again.

keep in mind i did all this shit on the side of the highway in the dark with a flashlight...fun.

i had the same thing happen to me as a kid when I was 16. It was winter time and I owned a 1984 Olds delta 88. Well my car was parked at my dads shop and i had to go to school. So I woke up early started the car..drove it down to the house and let it sit for a bit, I put the car in reverse no go...what about first no go. I looked outside and I saw a bright red line in the snow from the shop to the house. The only times I've had success with splicing lines with rubber hose is if you use about 3 hose clamps on each end and inspect them at every oil change.

Psycho

I got sick of my lines leaking and pissing my tranny fluid all over the road after finally getting my Dart street legal. So we tore the car apart to put in a 4-speed.

Problem solved.

That works, but some people like myself don't like driving a stick around town all day!
