2001 Grand Prix Header install.

Here are some pics I took of installing headers on my friends Grand Prix GTP it was quite a learning experience.

This is the front manifold compared to the aftermarket header.

Stock exhaust, not to pretty to the eyes.

Engine with headers removed. Wasn't too bad of a job.

Headers installed.

Cutout and racing cat that will be installed, gotta love it, it will be emissions legal still.

More pics of the headers finally torqued fully.

And even a video of it running with just the headers on, with the cutout open it sounds close to the same.

We have a set of nice tips and flowmaster muffler that will be used, but we are fabricating our own custom 2 1/2" Y pipe setup.

Insane

I wouldnt bother with running dual mufflers again. (splitting it off to two outlets)

just run a single muffler if you think you can tolerate the sound.

you'll probably cost yourself a couple of HP and a bit of weight by going back with dual mufflers for no reason

OK. I'm debating on who's to put on mine. Biggest thing is fit, since my L67 isn't in a GP, but the Olds CS that I drive.

The other guys headers are pretty nice, they actually install pretty easy. Lining up the crossover pipe was kind of a pain and the egr passage tube was too big, so we had to cut slits in it and ram it in. If you ever need dimensions or pics feel free to ask. And the dipstick was impossible to mount so my dad fabricated a better designed bracket. The slp brand headers didn't look so pleasing to install due to the flex pipe is permanetely on the header. I wouldnt' see why they wouldnt' fit? Hell 99+ grand ams that people cram l67's in use headers...

Nice. I'd love to see similar pictures of the rest of the exhaust system going in; I like following your car modification "stories"
