Free Tickets - Willie Nelson - Hollywood Bowl Sept 10

I have two tickets available for free to tomorrow nights Willie Nelson, Ryan Adams and Neko Case concert at the Hollywood Bowl tomorrow night, September 10, 7:00pm. If you like country, Willie, or just live music it should be an awesome time! I was supposed to be going with some friends of mine, but they have had to drop me at the last minute.

Okay maybe 5 minutes ago.

Anyway, let me know here, and/or PM me with your email/phone number if you are interested. I'm in section M, which is about midway between the stage and the back of the bowl. Once I get a confirmation I can email you the tickets.

I'll try to get a report up after the concert! I think I can get one person to go with me... In any case, I can always go by myself. It just won't be as fun

* Four tickets total. I'm keeping two for myself, two are free. Let me know even if someone else is has already posted.

Great offer. Ryan Adams and Neko Case would be awesome to see in concert, that's worth it right there. Since I'm stuck in the midwest I guess I'll have to be content w/ Manning vs. Manning.

I have $10 on Manning. But I'm not telling you which team it is though.

So I essentially spent ~$100 one ticket for myself to go the concert (4 tickets at $22 each +tax and stuff). And it was worth it!

Neko was just amazing live. You would think that her studio albums were all fakes if you didn't know better, but she sounds as good live as she does recorded. Proof - listen to her live album The Tigers Have Spoken. She is THAT good. Her playlist revolved around the Fox Confessor, Blacklisted and Furnace Room Lullaby albums. I didn't recognize anything from The Virginian album.

Ryan Adams played second. I only really listened to Gold from him, and not much of the (seven?) albums since then. If anything else, he stuck to his guns with country rock. He just seemed kind of loud though. There were about 4 different songs that ended with a 3 three minute jam session with his band. Near the end of his set I was telling myself that it was going just a bit too long. The crowd sounded like they were more familiar with, or bigger fans of, Ryan Adams compared to Neko. I'm the other way though.

Willie came on last as was expected. He was headlining. I could probably tell you what he played, but you can probably guess most of the songs. His sister was on piano, older son on electric guitar (more on this later), his other son on some percussion. The drummer (Paul English) and other percussion guy (another English, brother of the drummer) also were in the band. The only guys that weren't related to anyone else was the 2nd acoustic guitar (rhythm) and the harmonica player.

Willie let his subordinates have some face time, as his sister pounded out a good western/parlour song with the band backing her up. The guitar guy did a Waylon Jennings cover. They both were very good. His son on guitar though needs some explanation.

I think he is lost in the 80s. His guitar is one of those without the tuning pegs or anything like that. It's one of those that has the finger board and strings, but when you get to the top it just stops, so it looks like the thing is missing something. On top of this, he was wearing a large billowy white shirt. The sleeves were the same circumfrence the entire way down to his wrists, and he wore a pair of relatively tight black jeans. Shoulder length blonde hair too. He did some blues song, electrified of course. I wish I didn't have to say this, but when he started getting into it (like 3 seconds into it he was all over his guitar) I could have sworn I was watching Blues Hammer in Ghost World

Overall an excellent concert. It probably would have been better if there were two things different:

1) I had some people to go with

2) I had something soft to sit on. Those bleacher seats hurt after awhile!
