Classic Funk

Ok, I'm looking ot put together a Funk Compilation cd. What I've currently got on CD is some George Clinton with Parliament Funkadelic, Solo Bootsy Collins, James Brown, Kurtis Blow, A couple of Stevie Wonder disks, Earth, Wind, & Fire, and Cameos greatest hits

Can anyone give me some ideas for anything else I might want to include on the disk. Or just any good funk music?

The Groove Line by Heatwave and Stomp by The Brothers Johnson are a couple I always liked. Kool & the Gang had a few good ones. You gotta have Sly & the Family Stone's Thank You For Lettin Me Be Myself.

Hooohaaa

Now ya talking - Albums
Isaac Hayes - Tough Guys soundtrack, Hot Buttered Soul(featuring full length 12 min Walk on Bye), To Be Continued.
James Brown - Black Ceaser Soundtrack
Roy Ayres - The Best Off, a must
Minnie Ripperton
Lynn Collins(who was backed by The JB's)
Johnny Hammond
S.O.U.L
Booker T & the MG's
Ike and Tina Turner(some of the early stuff is pure funk)
And this is an absolute must on any funk compalation - get your self a copy of the album by THE INCREDIBLE BONGO BAND featuring the track Apache - if you haven't heard that then get today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps - I have about 100 funk CD's is you need any more suggestions

PS - be careful what Kool and The Gang you get some of it is so 'loved up' it make me sick. What you want it the track Summer Madness famously sampled by Fresh Prince

Please Give Me Album Recommendations

Hey funk gurus... I was just giving this thread a bump because I was in need of some funk album recommendations.

You see, I'm trying to widen my horizons and I was hoping to attend Funk 101. Who wants to be my teacher?

So, if those of you qualified could list your top 10 funk albums, I'd be much obliged...
