Pain

This is a band that not many people around here have heard of, and if they have, it is because I have introduced it to them. Pain is hard to explain, sort of a punk/ska/polka/pop explosion, and their songs are fun!

I think they are based out of Las Vegas, because I know they were under that label at one point or another. If anyone else has heard of this band, or likes them, please let me know.

Also, if you ever watched Cartoon Network back in the day when they played music videos as segways, then Pain is the band that sang the Jabberjaw song.

I've heard of them, but I thought were out of Oklahoma or something. I thought were a mix between They might be Giants and Reel Big Fish, but then I've only heard 2 or 3 songs. Didn't make as big an impression on me.

The description is promising. Do they have any downloadable sample tracks? Can you give us some links?

Alright, I was wrong. They're from Alabama.

Here's a link to their site:

You can check out vids and they have a couple of mp3's for dl.

DAMN. I just downloaded "Antidote", and the group sounds great. I'm shocked to hear a band that actually cares about enunciating the lyrics!

The discography is pretty long. What's your recommendation if I were to only buy one CD?

Also, let me throw a group back to you: Perfect Thyroid. They broke up a couple years back, but there were a tight ska/funk ("skunk") band with at least 4 guys who could sing well. "Which One of Us is Me" was probably their best album.

Well, I think that their best album is Full Speed Ahead. Although all of them are great. I have only seen three of their albums, though, I did not think they had more. I would reccomend getting all three of them, but if you can't, definitley get Full Speed Ahead. If you get them from their website, the pain page, you really get a good deal.

I am really glad to know that there are some people out there with good tastes in music. Thanks, guys!

I just found "Wonderful Beef" in my used record store. The songwriting and vocals reminds me of They Might Be Giants. I think I'll like this album, I'll need to spend a little more time with it before I decide for sure.
