Rx Bandits

Howdy folks. Being that this is my first thread post I figured I would start a topic about one of my favorite bands over the past 3 years. They are called the Rx Bandits and are out of Seal Beach, California. They could be defined as reggae/punk/ska fusion band and I absolutely love them. Been to countless concerts of theirs and they put on the best show I have ever seen. These cats truly love music, and it comes through on their albums, but even more so live. They have four albums out (Those Damn Bandits, Halfway Between Here and There, Progress, The Resignation) and just keep getting better in my opinion. Starting out as just a pure ska band (Those Damn Bandits) they added reggae into their sound and in my opinion started coming into their own with Halfway between Here and there. Standout tracks would be What if, Cornered, and Gun In Your Hand. The results of their genre mixing produced catchy, diverse tracks with memorable lyrics. Lead singer Matt Embree started to shift his sights away from girlfriends and heartbreak and started to focus on more insightful topics like society (and its effects on people, seen on Gun In Your Hand) and politics. Completely coming into their own is seen on Progress, where they easily push all boundaries for the present ska style, incorporating nearly every genres sounds into their music, and the album title is fitting. Almost every song should be mentioned in some way or another, but particular tracks that shine and truly show their talents would be VCG3, All the Time, In All Rwanda’s Glory, Who Would Have Thought, Nugget (eerily similar lyrics to what transpired in the 9/11 disaster, but this was created long before the incident occurred), and the final track, Infection. After listening to this for two years I did not think it was possible that they could get better, but their latest album, The Resignation, proves me wrong. It was recorded live and the band has produced it themselves. An amazing album, they continue even further into genre melding that it defies description. A true “resignation” from popular music, the live recording showcases the bands superior talent as musicians. Each instrument isn’t perfected to the point of over-production, and the band blends like none other I have heard. The album is an experience, one to be taken in wholly. The creativity and heart that is in this effort is something that I was truly moved by. Please check out this band if you appreciate music, they will not let you down.

Thanks for your time, figured it was about time I make a thread :P

if you like sublime start out with halfway between here and there and work your way up. while all of the albums have a ska feel, halfway has much more of that kind of influence in it. go to the mp3 site i linked and listen to them!
