Mixes

Make any lately?

I make one a month. Usually, I keep a book I've read in mind while compiling the mix , and make a sort of soundtrack, loosely connected. This time around, the book was Dan Brown's Angels & Demons.

1. Tool - Schism
2. Nina Nastasia - The Body
3. Circulatory System - The Lovely Universe
4. Ari Hest - Divider Line (live)
5. Billy Talent - Prisoners of Today
6. Hoobastank - Out Of Control
7. Mogwai - Killing All the Flies
8. Alfie - Winding Roads
9. The Twilight Singers - Feathers
10. AFI - The Days Of The Phoenix
11. In Flames - Artifacts Of The Black Rain
12. Foo Fighters - The Colour and The Shape
13. David Bowie- Space oddity
14. Radiohead - Like spinning plates (live)
15. Broken Social Scene - looks just like the sun
16. Johnny Cash & Jerry Cantrell - Time Of The Preacher
17. Bright Eyes - Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh
18. Cursive - The Martyr
19. Foo Fighters - My Hero (acoustic)

I make mixes fairly often, maybe two per week on average. I usually throw them away when I listen to them again though, all the transitions I had carefully thought over just don't flow on repeat listens. But there've been some that've stuck around.
They are:

1.) Ugly Casanova - Things I Don't Remember
2.) Out Hud - Dad, There's a Little Phrase Called Too Much Information
3.) Earlimart - We're So Happy (We Left the Piano in the Truck)
4.) The Wrens - Hopeless
5.) Calexico - Sunken Waltz
6.) Pavement - Gold Soundz
7.) Sigur Rós - [Untitled Track 7]
8.) Songs: Ohia - Farewell Transmission

1.) Belle and Sebastian - The Fox in the Snow
2.) Cocteau Twins - Lazy Calm
3.) Coldplay - Don't Panic
4.) Interpol - NYC
5.) The Autumn Rhythm - Still There
6.) Super Furry Animals - Alternate Route to Vulcan Street
7.) Yo La Tengo - Tears Are In Your Eyes
8.) Pavement - Ann Don't Cry
9.) Radiohead - Subterranean Homesick Alien
10.) Jeff Buckley - So Real
11.) Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - Old Jerry
12.) Menomena - E. Is Stable
13.) Sufjan Stevens - Holland
14.) The Kingsbury Manx - Porchlight
15.) Yo La Tengo - Let's Save Tony Orlando's House

1.) Beat Happening - Tiger Trap
2.) Wilco - I'm the Man Who Loves You
3.) Yo La Tengo - Our Way To Fall
4.) Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - Ramp of Death
5.) The Shins - New Slang
6.) Blur - Sweet Song
7.) Pavement - Spit on a Stranger
8.) Phantom Planet - Always on My Mind
9.) Wilco - Far, Far Away
10.) Yo La Tengo - Don't Have to Be So Sad
11.) Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - Us
12.) Built to Spill - The Weather

1.) Pavement - Black Out
2.) Blur - Good Song
3.) Spoon - Believing is Art
4.) Yo La Tengo - Damage
5.) Modest Mouse - The Cold Part
6.) ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Days of Being Wild
7.) Sigur Ros - [Untitled Track 6]
8.) Pavement - Major Leagues

Tiny Mix Tapes has a really cool section where you can send in a scenario, and a staff member makes a mix based on that scenario. You can find it at http://www.tinymixtapes.com/amg/
Some of the results are pretty interesting

I've made so many mixes in the past five years, it's rediculous. At least 150, maybe 200. Most of the CDs are thrown away They get beat up at work
