Coming out of the closet

Well, I am 29 year old male. I was raised on classic rock, descoverd the joys of heavy metal, and have been a long haired head banger at heart for a great many years now. But that is only the public side of me. I have desided to finnaly come out of the closet and admit what until now has always been a sorce of shame for me. I don't think it should be though, for it makes me no less of a man or a metal head. I..... This is hard to say.... I like.... Living La Viva Loca. Yes. I enjoy that song. It has a very catchy beat, and when ever it comes on the radio, I find myself singing it. I admit it. I haven't bought the album. But I did download the song once. Shame made me delete it before any of my friends could come over and find it. I don't think this makes me less of a man, and maybe, more people can see that this is not a sign of weakness and admit that they to like it. I just hope my parents will understand.

LMAO
You are truly living the crazy life.

Things of this nature are not able to be put aside with a cute smile and an I'm sorry sir.

For the next year you will be banished from the community after which you will be publicly cained in the town square.

You will get a week for your lacerations to heal and then you will be taken in front of a council consisting of Ozzy Ozbourne, Zakk Wylde and the rest of the crew to determine if you have truly rehabilitated.

I pray for you sir, we all do.

Well, you're not alone (well I don't like it though). We all have likes outside of our normal listening, so don't be ashamed. I'm a punk/heavy metal fan, and I think I own 1 Madonna album, that's right an album. I haven't listened to it since I was 14, but I still have it.

If you feel that bad about it, you need to listen to many hours of Pantera/Metalica/Judas Priest etc. that you can until you feel cleansed.

God of Thunder 05-13-2004 08:33 AM

So this is where I can admit I like Duran Duran?? :hmm:

Polyphobic 05-13-2004 08:36 AM

I'd like to join you and admit that I like Pink. I have no clue why. But I do.
My usual bands include SOAD, Rammstein, QOTSA, etc
Feels much better getting that off my chest.

MSD 05-13-2004 09:42 AM

They still play that on the radio?

00111000 05-13-2004 09:49 AM

I mostly listen to punk and metal, but I do enjoy a nice Billy Joel or Niel Diamond every once in a while. :)

That is so funny! The other day I was driving along and thinking about when "Living La Vida Loca" came out on MTV. I too thought it was a catchy tune and enjoyed... You are not alone!

Seer666 05-13-2004 04:21 PM

Wow, didn't think there would be this many responces this quickly. Seems I hit a cord. Maybe we can start a support group or something. lol

05-13-2004 04:58 PM

A support group would be good! Im very much in need of one... I listen to punk and hard rock music but I have to admit.... I own every one of the Backstreet Boys albums.... meep......

KWSN 05-13-2004 06:24 PM

I almost bought a Village People album once, when I was 7.......

...but I bought a Dead Kennedys album instead so I'm ok :D

Smimpinj 05-14-2004 08:26 PM

I ahve several Weird Al albums. 'Nuff said.
And I will admit to liking the country cover of the song Unforgiven by Iron Horse. Originally Metallica.

Amnesia620 01-24-2005 01:07 PM

Untitled,

Backstreet boys??? You need more than therapy. lol! I'm just kidding...there's nothing to be ashamed of...in private. ;)

I still love "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne...

However, anyone still enjoying the song "mmm bop" by Hanson needs to be put in a straight jacket!!!

I can proudly say that my coworkers were quite stunned when we were driving back from lunch in my car and Slayer was followed up by Sinatra on my stereo.

What can I say? I listen to all kinds of music.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe he has satellite radio and there is a station that plays classic one hit wonders.

wolf 01-24-2005 02:27 PM

Spice Girls all the way.

GIRL POWER!

K-Wise 01-24-2005 07:59 PM

Some of the boy band songs...for example Nsync - This I Promise You, and O-Town - All Or Nothing...I think those are really pretty songs. I actually love singing them. Mainly because they were written by great writers but do like to sing them none the less. Also like Barry Manilow, Billy Joel, and some Bette Middler.

(runs away)

Asta!!

I do that to people a ot as well. People just don't seem to understand how I can like Sisters of Mercy, Ozzy, Sinatra, and Enya all at the same time. Throw in some Ludwig Van and you got a great mix CD.
