RJD2 - Since We Last Spoke

I'm a pretty big fan of RJ's work and his new album just dropped today. It's called "Since We Last Spoke" and I highly recommend it. If you're familiar with any of his songs of Deadringer or any tracks he does for MCs, this album is almost nothing like that. It's great and fluid and you should be picking this up now if you haven't done so already.

If you have, what y'all think about it?

I've heard the CD called Deadringer. Didn't mind it. Quite a bit was too "mixy" for me.. really enjoyed the song called Ghostwriter (or something like that).

Will keep an eye out for this one, thanks.

I loved Deadringer mostly because every track on the CD is great. Since We Last Spoke doesn't seem to be as good though. It has some good tracks (1976, Iced Lightning) but it doesn't really sound the same as the first. I miss the more instrumental tracks and tracks with MC's. I would recommend if you like RJD2 to check out the Soul Position album called 8 Million Stories. RJD2 does the beats and Blueprint (Final Frontier, Deadringer) MC's.

URB magazine also gave it two stars.

yeah, definitely if you were expecting this album to be more like deadringer, you'd be disappointed. i liked deadringer more too, and the lack of MC tracks is surprising, considering how well songs like June, FHH, and Final Frontier worked. but i still enjoy the new album and it gets better with repeated listens.

I've bought Rjd2's "since we last spoke" and I gotta say, that it's prolly his best work apart from a few of his songs that weren't released on any cds, if your looking for a hip hop dj' that hits you with a bunch of different beats, and uses some crazy samples, RJD2 is the guy for you.. just my 2 cents on this issue.

Upon further listening i think it's better than deadringer just for the simple fact that it doesn't really have any mc tracks. I didn't really care for the mc tracks on dead. I swear that he sampled metroid prime on track 2, which is pretty fucking awesome if you ask me.
