I can just imagine a mugging with this technology in place:

mugger: "Give me your MP3 player!"
guy: "ok..please don't hurt me!"
mugger: "DAMMIT! It's one of those fingerprint ones...ok, give me your hand!!!"

I don't have a problem buying music I like now, but if I have to access it with a finger print, I'll join the boycott.

The only thing that's bothered/affected me so far is those CDs with intentional imperfections (to prevent ripping) that end up not being playable on some CD players. But hey, there's always the good ol' boycott.

If it's playable on a PC, someone will figure a way around the intentional imperfections. Commodore 64 software used that to protect their SW on floppy. It usually only lasted until someone got around to ripping out the protection to stop the annoying drive chattering.

There's that, however what about the life of CDs? When you purchase a CD you purchase a license to have that music forever. CD's were supposed to last "forever" and now we're finding out they last less than 20 years on average. It should be our right to make copies for personal use.

That goes for DVD's too. When will DVD buners be able to burn in DVD-9 format?
