Gorillaz - Greatest Concept Band

Gorillaz

If you like Blur, you really ought to check these guys out.

Some of you may already know of their wonder.
Some of you dont... Allow me to introduce you.

Four band members.
2d, Keyboards.
Murdoc, Bass.
Russel, Drums.
Noodle, Guitar.

or...

Damon Alburn
Dan “The Automator” Nakamura
Del the Funky Homosapien
Miho Hatori

The above mentioned humans have no assigned role as the animated folks.

Jamie Hewlett brings 2d, Murdoc, Russel, and Noodle to life in such videos as "Clint Eastwood", "Rock The House", and "19/2000".

Take a few minutes to discover this band for yourself.

I don't mind the Gorillaz.. can only listen to them so much at once though (although, that's true for everything I guess).

Del's great.

Actually, out of the concept albums that Automator has been involved with, I think Handsome Boy Modeling School and Dr. Octagon are a bit better.

And Deltron 3030 is better than them all.

I dig Gorillaz and Handsome Boy Modeling School. Both great bands.

I have yet to hear Deltron 3030, I'll have to take a look.

I don't think so. Del is good in limited quantities but grating when he's on every track. HBMS has nice diversity to it and doesn't take itself seriously.

I really like Deltron, yes it does get a little slow in some parts but overall it's a good album. Now, Dr. Octagon is pretty damn funny. Halfsharkaligator half man was brilliant.

I used to like them, but they seemed stagnant... have they done anything new recently?

I did attend one of their live concerts, and that was freakin amazing. Quite possibly the greatest coupling of music and animation I had ever seen.

Ps I heard that Tina Weymouth played bass in the Gorillaz... Is that true?

Yeah, they released a DVD called "Phase One: Celebrity Takedown"... It has all their videos and some computer related stuff. Before that, there was a CD by the "Spacemonkeys", called "Laika Come Home". It's a huge remix album, mostly reagae(SP?).
