Hmm it didn't really blow me away or anything. It was just kinda decent to me. Not as good as some of their other singles. Still anticipating the new album though.

It's just not the same with out Zach, but I haven't really thought Audioslave has been too bad... I just was a huge fan of RATM forever and they're just different. Well, gotta take what we can get, I suppose. I thought the new single was ok, not too good or bad.

Well I think people need to stop comparing Audioslave to Rage and just see them both as 2 seperate bands. I loved Rage too but they're dead now. Audioslave is the new band. And the last album had some pretty solid songs. Set It Off, Cochise, Show Me How To Live..I thought all those were kick ass. Hard to go wrong with Cornel. Another thing I noticed...Tom has more room for emotional playing and tone for Chris than he did for Zach...Lets face it...Tom couldn't really have played the kind of guitar solo you hear on a song like let say "Like A Stone" for example with Rage because Zach wasn't really a singer...he's an emcee. Some might argue that thats not as good a solo as the stuff he did with Rage but I actually like it. Because he's actually making his guitar sound like a fuckin guitar again. Don't get me wrong I loved all the crazy shit he did with Rage but nothings better than blues. I try to look at them as 2 completely different bands. Cause with Chris they pretty much are a different band. Well thats just my 2 cents.

Not really feelin "Be Yourself," but Im still a fan of Audioslave. By the way, Im not really sure why people keep comparing Audioslave to Rage, when clearly their sound is more along the lines of Soundgarden. I completely agree with K-Wise...Zach was more of an emcee, so Rage had a more uptempo style to match that. Cornell has that unique, early 90s grunge/bluesy vocal style...so Audioslave has blended a sound to go more along those lines.

The Audioslave and Rage comparison thing needs to stop in my opinion because they are what K-Wise said.. two different bands. Like Strata and Mars Volta I guess..or Velvet Revolver and Guns N Roses etc etc..

I like the new song and I'm a huge Audioslave fan..can't wait to hear a higher quality version and the new album..

Correct me if I'm wrong with those references too heh.

For those who actually like Audioslave, keep listening to the song and it will really grow on you. I thought it was good, but nothing special when I first heard it. But the more times I listen to it, the more I like it.

And to those saying RATM was better, try giving Audioslave a fair chance. Don't get me wrong, I loved Rage. But Audioslave is a much more diverse band and Tom Morello finally has an opportunity to show his true brilliance.

.

Heres the problem i see; Strata and Mars Volta are both very good, and Mars Volta is insanely creative. Rage was good hard music, with some (although really political) good lyrics......Audioslave is kinda drawn out and bland. That Cochise song made me insane, it seemed to drone on forever same with like a stone.

the comparison will never stop.. it shouldn't stop either IMO. Rage was pure.. rage.. audioslave is so tame compared. It's hard to say.. "ok we're a different band" especially when the previous band had so much to say.

when i first heard audioslave, i remember being so disappointed because they "weren't as good as rage."

i think the problem is that many people think audioslave should just be rage with a different voice. rage is by far my favorite group of all time, but audioslave has consistantly been growing on me. they ARE different, and obviously have a different sound. cornell's voice is pretty damn good for the music they make, and zach's was perfect for the music rage made.

i'm such a fan of badmotorfinger/superunknown-era cornell that i've had a hard time getting into audioslave! cornell, for whatever reason, has cut down his range and has a new annoying tendency to drop pitch at the end of every phrase (listen for it... it's ALWAYS there). drives me nuts to hear his versatile voice toned down to mostly gravel-y crooning.

I love audioslave. Liked Rage, liked soundgarden. This single... at first was eh... still only lukewarm, I guess I need to hear it more. Cochise was the same way for me.

Now that I can most definitely agree with lol. He has moments on the Audioslave CD's where I'm like "YEAH THATS IT" not too many though...like Set It Off I really liked...at least the chorus but yeah it in no way compares to his vocals back in the days. He was in a class all by himself. He was like the Plant of the new generation. I still love the guy though.

Audioslave on 24/7 at my appartment made it simultaneously grow on me and wear on me at the same time. All the same, they don't hold a candle to rage.
