I am "Mr. Oldschool" and think that Husker Du is emo.

I havent heard that many songs from them, but from what ive heard id say yea.

Death Cab is not emo. Listen to them compared to the fucking Used or some emo shit and find any resemblance.

They might not sound like traditional emo.. but they are whiny..

Other than having a couple whiney songs, what makes them emo?

The AMG lists them as Indie Rock and Indie Pop but not in the super-whiney category of emo. I'll admit it's a tough call.

I'm so pathetic that not only could I not be able to pick out Death Cab out of a police lineup, I only have the vaguest idea what Emo is.

i'd put them as hipster fluff. I like the songs, but have yet to discover the depth that people go on and on about.
