Nine Inch Nails - Broken video

I'm wondering if anyone has any info on this crazy video.

I happened to find it some 10 years ago when I purchased a few live NIN shows on VHS.

In case you've never heard of it, it's a film that Trent made that has every video from Broken (as well as an alternate version of Gave Up - different from what's on Closure). In between videos there are clips of a guy being tortured - a fake snuff film of sorts.

But I'm curious as to the origins of it... it couldn't have been officially released, so I'm assuming it just made it's way underground by various bootleggers and stuff.

Anyone know anything about it?

Is this the video where he is on the vivisectionist table?

I remember seeing this video at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was screened with a number of videos that were said to be, "Too much for MTV". They aired before the Midnight Madness screening of something I can't remember right now.

I am trying to remember but some of the other videos were a Glen Danzig video where they show men nailing their foreskins to planks of wood... Ethyl Meatplow's Queenie and Sucking on the Devil's Johnson, and a couple more that I can't remember...

The NIN one was very well done and creepy. I am pretty sure it was made for a video album rather than for MTV.

I remember doing a mail trade with someone on rec.music.industrial for these long ago. After being investigated for the "Head like a hole" video (some cop thought it was a snuff film) they were understandably skittish about releasing the Broken film which was much much more violent. Broken is one of my favorite all-time albums, but I feel no need to see the videos again, they're that disturbing.

You can find it if you snoop around online, not hard to find at all. Its hard to concieve of a network of VHS pirates spreading this almost entirely by word of mouth and creating a cult phenonmenon big enough to interest me as a high school freshman living hours away from anything that could be called a "scene." The early 90s were a crazy time.

a little info here:
