Forgive me for this...

you cannot get worse than... the one.. the only... the tone deaf.. WING...

http://www.wingmusic.co.nz/

The Wing sings AC/DC is just so completely wrong... It's worse than Pat Boone's In a Metal Mood...

Dave Barry wrote a book on the subject, but his songs were not at all obscure. STill, it's hard to improve on his list . . . the book started with this column:

Good stuff there, Temporary...

I'd have to agree that current "popular" songs that really suck are what I'd put on the list.

My only suggestion is Biz Markie's just a friend. Yes, I know it's not really obscure, but I'm sure everyone's been trying to forget about it.

Edit: OH GOD Mal! how could you subject me to that? I just had to listen to back in black... terrible mistake.

Also: Lacuna Coil (a not too bad goth band) did a bunch of acoustic versions of their music on the Comalies bonus cd. The acoustic version of Heaven's a Lie had my SO lying on the floor in tears.

I would say basically anything by will hung. But, you're making a gag Christmas present, not a tool for torture. And I wouldn't say this is a terrible song, per se, but it's just so odd that I have to suggest The Frogs' "Grandma In the Corner With a Penis In Her Hand". I personally love the song, but most people I know don't seem to appreciate the really strange humor of the song.

all great suggestions, the cd is coming along nicely...

it starts off with a little afternoon delight by the starlight vocal band, into some wiliam hung, followed by fish heads, eddie murphy, lfo, new kids on the block, vanilla ice's NINJA RAP from the tmnt soundtrack. its shaping up quite nicely.

Wing's back in black is so god damn funny, i almost pissed myself, thank you for thank link. good stuff.

Think music is bad today? Seveties Pop makes Avril Lavine look like Sarah McLaclan, and Limp Bizkit look like Led Zeppelin. Examples:
Terry Jacks - Seasons in the Sun
Michael Martin Murphy - Wild Fire
Carol King - Jazzman
KC and the Sunhine Band - Afternoon Delight
Gordon Lightfoot - The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Sundown, and pretty much everything else.
Glenn Cambell - Galveston
John Denver - Calypso
Coven - One Tin Soldier
Pretty much all of Barry Manilow, with the possible exception of Copacabana.

Which is not to say that Biz Markie is not painful to listen to, nor is Afro Man any better.

Nuther good bad one: Saga - On the Loose
Post Commodores Lionel Ritchie - Dancing on the Ceiling, Hello, All night long, Say you say me

Mal, Wing, Brain hurts. Arrrgh. I believe it was Vermin who said, "I didn't know that they could make a sound that sounds like cat shit smells." Absolutely perfect in this context.

CW McCall. "Was the dark of the moon on the six of June in a Kenmore haulin logs..."

Man I love that song. Use to know all the words to it. That is not to say that it's not a bad song; it is very, very bad, but it's good bad, like Richard Cheese, not Bad Bad, like Michael Bolton.

And there is one word to say about Barry Manilow: "Mandy". I rest my case, such as it is.

Hey now, stop frontin' on my homeboy.

"At 7am the ol' cook came on deck, sayin 'Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya..."
"And at 7pm the main hatchway gave in, he said 'Fellas, it's been good to know yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

I sing that song when I daydream. I don't know why. I guess that it happened near when I was born, and I found the song when I was in grade school and the teacher asked us to do a project about the time when we were born. We had to research the news and culture of the world in 1975.

I had a "Xerox" copy (it was new to the library, and cost 10c when 10c meant something to me) of the cartoon section on the day I was born. I looked it up myself. Did you know that ol' Charlie Brown got the football yanked away from his foot just as he was about to kick it? Comedy gold, I tell you.

In high-school, I worked on the recieving dock at a supermarket. I worked the weekend night shift, and was often the only guy in the store. Unfortunately, my supervisor liked this top-40 "Soft Rock" shit, and he turned on the overhead speakers to the WORST RADIO STATION ON EARTH, and then locked his office so that you couldn't change the station or turn down the volume.

Achey-Breakey Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus was pumped in my ears every night, for like 5 months straight, at least 4 times a night. It was torture. There was no escape. Rod Stewart got in there every once in a while with "Forever Young" and Phil Collins would round it off with a nice "Sususudio, ohh-ooh".

I would try to wash off the dirty feeling when I got home, but I could never get clean. Not until Nirvana's Nevermind hit my "Portable CD player". It was brand new technology, and you had to treat the thing like an egg or it would skip, but I could finally listen to my CD's like a Walkman!!! Yeah, baby.
