but, i am slowly acquiring parts to build my own homebrew ac/dc generator, working on a water filtration device...
if i had lots of money, id dig a big hole somewhere and make a bunker...

I have a bomb shelter dug out of bedrock which doubles as a wine cellar. That's enough preparation for me.

im just thinking of the senario...what would happen if the usa was invaded?...where would you go? where would you be safe? i dont know about you but i want to prolong my life as long as possible

What are the chances of that happening? I'm far more likely to get killed driving to work or walking across the street to the convenience store for coffee every day. Where do you draw the line?

I drink, smoke, eat red meat cooked rare, drive fast cars, ride a motorcycle, fly to visit friends/family on major holidays, etc. If I were to be paranoid about the US getting invaded or something, I'd have to give up all those activities too, as they're more likely to kill me. That'd pretty much leave locking myself up in a padded room and living like Howard Hughes in his later years.

I'll pass, thanks. I respect my life and don't want to die anytime soon, but I'd rather enjoy myself in the process instead of living in fear. That involves some degree of risk, but pretty much anything fun or worthwhile does.

Well since I live in Canada, I'd laugh. But if it was my country being invaded, I'd probably fight for it instead of cowering in a hole.

You can hide all you want, but if your country is being invaded, and nobody is there to fight for it because they're hiding, then you're going to die eventually when they come scouting for bunkers.

So either way, you're SOL. You might as well take a few of them down with you.

I would go to somewhere in East Texas and start a ranch...if anyone would want to stay close we would make it a community where we would share and help in protecting ourselves.

Wait maybe we should clarify. How's the world going to hell? Are we talking invasion? Natural disaster? Demons rising from the bowels of the Earth? Depending on the circumstances I would hope your actions would change.

Waiting to die along with the rest of the sheep. Why be prepared, who cares. Will life really be worth living after everything goes to hell?
