Identify this quote

i found this quote somewhere on the net and i have yet to find who said it.

Quote:
" [God] is the creation of ignorant and frightened humans in need of explanation to the fundamental quagmire of their existance."
i've heard people say it's from jesse ventura to nietzsche.

can anyone shine a lil more light on this?

Googling the phrase doesn't turn up anything. I'd guess that your quote is modified from the original.

I don't think it is nietzsche. I could be wrong though.

almost sounds like something ambrose bierce would say in "the devil's dictionary."

It's not witty enough for Ambrose Bierce. It sounds more like Marx to me.

Doesn't flow well enough to what I would think a professional quote-producer would put out. You know, people like Bierce, Twain, etc. Probably either a butchered rendition of what some good wordsmith produced, or, more likely, something some hack uttered in a vanity piece.
