Ohio: Called for Obama by Fox and MSNBC after PA goes with Obama.

Game over man! Game over!

(isn't it?)

Willravel 11-04-2008 06:34 PM

It is if Florida goes Obama (and it probably will). Florida = 27, California = 55.

California: we've got a shitload of Americans.

ngdawg 11-04-2008 06:35 PM

Gotta love the media..."2% of the votes have been counted and we have a winner...."
Besides the Truman upset way back when, the media a few years back had declared Jim McGreevey the next NJ governor....he wasn't. At that time, Christy Whitman had won. McGreevey got it the next time tho.

tisonlyi 11-04-2008 06:37 PM

the west coast states, with new mexico - which has also been called - and that's that.

Do you see McCain winning any west coast state?

There we go ladies and gentlemen, that's the winner.

Oh, I think Florida, NC, Virginia and Indiana are going for Obama. Honestly.!

I hate being this much of a junky to the spectacle.

smooth 11-04-2008 06:43 PM

it doesn't matter which way Florida goes, the only thing holding this back is the fact that reporters aren't going to call it until the polls close.
but it really is over...now to the important elections: senators!

Baraka_Guru 11-04-2008 06:47 PM

America's turning blue....

Manuel Hong 11-04-2008 06:50 PM

WOOOOOOOOO
HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm calling it!

highthief 11-04-2008 06:53 PM

Looks pretty done and dusted - unless no one shows up to vote on the west coast, can't see how McCain can win.

tisonlyi 11-04-2008 06:53 PM

I believe I beat you to it.

*raises glass of delicious honey rum*

I won't believe it until I see it.

shoegirl 11-04-2008 06:57 PM

I'm very proud of my state... YAY Ohio! :)

I remember Florida in 2000. Until it is a mathematical impossibility with the gap in between them greater than the number of ballots left, I don't believe it.

Manuel Hong 11-04-2008 07:16 PM

I raise my glass ehrm CUP of tea...a toast.
"To our new President~ Barack Obama!! Long may he live!"
(maybe I should get something stronger to drink... something a bit more celebratory)

tisonlyi 11-04-2008 07:17 PM

think of this - how many people will be convinced Obama is not a muslim, different, socialist extremist after 4 years in office?

Even Texas isn't too far this time... What about next?

well, red is such a pretty colour on balance sheets and corpses.

Manuel Hong 11-04-2008 07:29 PM

i'm not even slightly drunk and I can't manage to post the frickin picture...drat. thank god that will all change once Barack takes office!

snowy 11-04-2008 07:33 PM

Based on my math, it's won for Obama. Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC have Obama with 207 electoral votes. If you give him California, Oregon, and Washington, he's won--55+7+11=73 electoral votes, and he's obviously going to carry these states.

Manuel Hong 11-04-2008 07:46 PM

They just called VA for Obama

Drink! (Oops wrong thread)

Charlatan 11-04-2008 07:53 PM

Who called VA for Obama... CNN hasn't yet.

filtherton 11-04-2008 08:01 PM

They just called California for Obama on Jim Lehrer. Obama FTW.

Charlatan 11-04-2008 08:03 PM

Manuel Hong 11-04-2008 08:04 PM

Frosstbyte 11-04-2008 08:11 PM

Unless someone fucked up a lot, it's over and done. Happened faster than I'd expected.

Jozrael 11-04-2008 08:21 PM

McCain called Obama and conceded (then again, Bush lol).

ngdawg 11-04-2008 08:21 PM

They gotta do away with this electoral shit...how do you take more states and lose??

tisonlyi 11-04-2008 08:27 PM

Obama 29 states, McCain 22 with 3 still in toss up.

or are you not counting commonwealths?

When I wrote that, CNN was reporting states as red that now are blue.
This is what's wrong with these newscasts. They dont' WAIT, they speculate for 12 hours.

djtestudo 11-04-2008 08:34 PM

One thing to mention is that even in Florida and Ohio there are still probably three million ballots to be counted, and both races are within 100-150 thousand votes.

It's probably over...probably

Just for the record, I dont believe CNN or any network reported any states first as red, then as blue.

Derwood 11-04-2008 08:38 PM

this is fantastic. I'm so happy that my kids will grow up in a country where the idea of a Black President is not extraordinary

Yea, California for one...live map online(not watching tv) . As the votes went in, the states changed color based on the tally.

To those of you in the U.S. on this board, I first hope you voted. Second, I want you to know you
reputation around the world has just gone up at least 10%.
You know one reason why the rest of the world cares so much (Brits like Tisonlyi, Daniel,:mapleleaf:'s like me)?
It because your Gov't has been perceived as bullies around the world for the last 8 years.
Everyone is wary of a bully.

Those of you who didn't vote for him, I'm cool with that, that's why it's called
Democracy.

Counting down to the first spurious attacks on Obama's Presidency starting now:
5,4,3,2,............
