I think they do it just to see if anyone will notice.

Either they have no clue themselves or they do know and they're doing it deliberately; out of contempt for the huge chunk of the electorate who doesn't read enough.

Perhaps...but I would be more inclined to vote for the latter. Our society has been dumbed down to the point that if it doesn't have a catchy jingle or a funny cartoon character, we pay it no attention. I would be of the opinion that the current administration has shown us nothing but contempt. Still...
