Anti-Semitic ads in the Washington Times

Pretty amazing that this thing ever got into their paper in the first place. Some editor actually looked at this crap and accepted it for publication? Oh well, I guess an apology makes everything all right.

Quote:
The Washington Times has apologized for running an anti-Semitic advertisement last month. The newspaper, however, has not yet printed an apology in its pages. In a letter to the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington, Times vice president and general manager Richard Amberg Jr. said he was sorry "both personally and on behalf of The Washington Times" for the "offensive ad that appeared on Jan. 20.

The advertisement was headlined "President Bush, May The Lord Jesus Christ Bless You and Guide You In Your Second Term," but continued, "However, do not continue to allow those folk of the anti-Christ to influence you and/or control you. Israel and her Zionists are not a friend to Christianity, Christians or Christ!"

The ad also said: "Don't ever forget, the Iraqi war is Israel's war paid for by the death of Americans -- and the next generation's financial security." The ad is signed "In Christ, Stan Rittenhouse," and promotes a book Rittenhouse wrote titled Fear of the Jews.

Oh, the Washington Times is the most ridiculous rag of a mainstream paper ever. Let's hear it for the Revered Sun Myung Moon.

Am i the only one that can see some truth in that statement?

no, there's definitely some truth to it and I doubt that was the problem with the ad.
I think the offensive part might be that he calls Jews "those folk of the anti-Christ", but that's just a guess.
Since the Washington Times isn't a real newspaper, it doesn't surprise me that they let that get through.

what...like the oil didn't matter? we just wanted to help isreal out a bit? they've done fine against invasions before. iraq's army was gutted....thus our fast advance. i really don't buy the claim that this was isreal's making. they didn't much care for saddam...that's for sure. but they actually knew what to do when he got WMD aspirations. Bomb the site where they were going to be made, and leave things at that.

I don't see much if any truth in it.

There is truth in that statement. Bush has stated more than once such was the case, at least my eyes and ears tell me that while watching CNN.

Now Israel is pressuring the U.S on Iran like they did on Iraq. I don't think the U.S will bite so fast this time though.

Seeing as how the Wash Times has no respect or integrity to begin with, no, it isn't surprising they ran that ad.

Later for the ad, talk about the meat & potatoes.
Congress is not truly loyal to America and America only.
This is fact.

IF you assume we did it for oil, THEN I would expect the oil companies to make a fortune in profit. Why would the consumer ever see any of it???

Ever seen a corporation lay off the working class to increase it's profits?

I'm not saying we went over there for oil (I don't fully accept the IF statement), but the leap from that statement to the average person getting free gas is a hoot!

We have been getting oil from Iraq. They have to pay for the reconstruction somehow. We blew up a lot of buildings/roads/etc and we sure as hell aren't gonna pay to have them rebuilt. It's taken a while for them to get it all set up again, especially since there were terrorists blowing up oil related things for a short time a little while ago (not to mention saddam himself ordering it.. the US tried to stay clear from bombing oil related sites, but some were damaged during the invasion anyway.)

While Israel chose to not enter the war for fear of retaliation by the arab community, I'm sure they had a lot to do with the reasoning behind the invasion.

As for this ad being posted i couldn't care less. It's all free speech to me. If the guy wants to waste his money to put that stuff in the paper then i say let him. If it makes people upset, oh well. There's billions of people out there in the world, each with their own view. If you're gonna get pissed off about everything someone says that you dont agree with you're gonna be one angry motherfucker.

I thought we had a free press where even ideas we don't agree with can be published. I think the ad is off base but shouldn't we be more concerned with them if they censored it instead of being upset because they printed it?
