All i know is when i hear a guy call a girl/woman a "bitch" all that comes to mind is DISRESPECT..

When guys are drinking beer and they say "Yo dog!" that's completely different.

Just a quick observation. I think the mainstreaming of bitch as a term for women in general has spread as rap music has become part of the larger pop culture. Much rap music is incredibly misogynistic.

In all seriousness, that is a horrible cop-out and scapegoat. Rap has been around for a good, long time. It has been more than "mainstream" enough to have had more than sufficient impact on the general culture of Americans. Honestly, it's sad that people still do stuff like this- place blame on such an easy target, that has nothing to do with it.

Just for some info, by the way- Rock, as a genre, has always been incredibly misogynistic. The rampant exploitation of females in rock music videos when MTV started up practically established it as "cool" and "normal" for all time. It was then used in rap videos when they really came into being to ride in on the success of female exploitation in the rock and pop videos which made MTV so popular to begin with.

Vulgarity in general is now, and has been for some time, becoming increasingly more prevalent in our everyday vernacular. Lines are pushed back on a constant basis, even with all this FCC nonsense going on.

To the girl-nation: start respecting each other and MAYBE you'll have a positive impact on the misguided males still caught in "bitch" mode. Everyone knows that one must lead by example... but sometimes you women are fucking CRAZY on each other, and that does nothing to positively influence the stupid assholes who call you bitches.
