wierd condom problem
 

Ok so I have this weird problem with condoms. Every time I use one I can't maintain a firm erection. It always turns into a half assed softie. Regular sex is no problem. It doesn't matter what position, and although the sensation might be a tiny bit less, it's still quite intense. I am 24, have been with my girlfriend for 4 years or so and she is on the pill, but there have been times over the years when we need to use condoms like when she gives her body a break from the pill or when we go on vacation and forget them...things like that.

So for the next couple weeks I need to use condoms. Last night was pitiful, as I lost it after about 5 minutes. I spent the next hour making it up to her in other ways. We then had about 20 minutes of condomless sex, just fine, but as soon as I put the bugger on for the home stretch, I got a flat tire and had to pull over. She was able to 'blow' it back up, and ended up finishing me off that way.

This has happened enough that it's more than frustrating. Anyone else have similar experiences?

If you're using condoms for contraception purposes, you've got to stop ALL semen, including pre-cum, from entering her vagina. That means using one for the whole performance, not just the finale.

Have you tried a different brand or a thinner condom?

Maybe the condom is too small and is restricting blood flow.

You should try Trojan Magnums and see if that makes a difference.

Yes and no....I realize this...we do also use a spermicidal for this reason. So far so good. 4 years running.

Yep...I've tried a bunch including the 'ultra thin.' same thing.

Haven't tried Magnums yet...but i will. Regular ones do seem a bit tight, but i'm not a huge guy. I figured they're tight in order to say on.

Sounds to me like it's mostly mental. You're thinking that the condom's going to make you soft, and therefore what you think comes true.

Perhaps just the feeling of the condom itself has caused a subconscious reaction in your body. Regardless of the actual cause (maybe a bad previous experience? maybe just suggestion...), you either need to strongly believe that a condom will not make you soft, or find a new form of birthcontrol.

I put a regular durex condom over my arm last night.... didn't even cut into my arm.

Magnums are just for people with big egos, not big dicks.

I agree that it's mental. It happens to me sometimes too when we use a condom. I just have to stop thinking about my own pleasure and my erection and start thinking about her and how fun it will be to please HER.

Something you can try though...try masturbating using a condom or perhaps cutting down on your masturbation if you do that a lot. It tends to make me more sensitive when I cut down and balances out the effect of the condom.

I can stretch a regular Trojan over my head, and I'm not exactly a small guy. A standard condom can be inflated to the size of a watermelon. It's not cutting off blood flow. It's mental.

I'd have to agree. I tend to have to same problem (luckil I don't have to use them anymore) I usually have to psych myself out..

Try sneaking up on the little bugger and sliding it on.. or maybe have your girlfriend put it on you, while keeping you aroused..

Because it is a bit of a laugh as a party trick.
When I was younger I used to do a bit of a party trick where you pull the condom over your head and securely hold it on your top lip. Inhale through mouth, exhale through nose. Then blow the condom up till it explodes. They get huge.

Anyway, that was the immature kind of 'impress the chicks' things I did as an 18 year old drunken student...

I'd have to say its a mental thing too. Just keep it out of your mind and concentrate on what your doing and look at her alot. Just keep it out of thought.

Not true, I can't use a regular size condom.

The normal Trojans/spermicide/thins/lubed... all of those normal ones are too constrictive on me.

I have never actually tried Magnums. But the Lifestyles Larges are what I use and they are so much more comfortable, and still tight enough to keep anything from slipping out.

To overcome the mental aspect, I would recommend practicing wearing condoms. That is to say, plan an evening with your woman where you are going to do just foreplay and no sex. Do so with condoms. Make the goal of the evening to maintain an erection while wearing a condom. This will help retrain your brain to think it's possible to be hard while wearing a rubber.

Example: Foreplay, foreplay, erection, condom, softie. Don't remove the condom and continue with foreplay until it gets hard again. If the condom slips off, don't give up. Do foreplay until you get another erection, then reapply condom, etc.
