Scottie Pippen returning to the Chicago Bulls
July 20, 2003 (Chicago) — Scottie Pippen is returning to the Chicago Bulls.

Bulls spokesman Tim Hallam confirms Pippen has re-signed with the team. The team's official announcement comes tomorrow.

Hallam would not release terms of the deal.

Pippen was a seven-time all-star in his eleven seasons with the Bulls. He left for the Houston Rockets before the 1999 season.

Pippen has spent the last four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Three weeks ago, Bulls general manager John Paxson said he would like his former teammate to return to Chicago to finish his NBA career where it began.

The Bulls coveted the 37-year-old Pippen, an unrestricted free agent, as both a defensive-minded small forward, and mentor to young players such as Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry.

Pippen averaged ten-point-eight points and a team-high four-point-four assists last season with the Trail Blazers.

But he missed three games in the playoffs because of pain and swelling in his left knee, operated on in March.

Scottie Pippen is not mentor material imo. He just wants to prove he wasn't playing second fiddle to MJ.

Has Pippen ever done anything without MJ? I'm not a big basketball fan, but you just never heard that much about him since he left the Bulls. I guess it's nice he coming back. MJ should have finished his career in Chicago. That Wizards thing was a big mistake.

In the 90's it's a huge misconception that Jordan ran the team. He didn't, number 33 did.

Besides, what was the last team that one with just one great player, and not a team that supported him. It goes so far back, I seriously doubt that it has ever happened. Well, maybe George Mikan, but I don't know much about the NBA way back then.

Pippen is a GREAT acquisition for the Bulls. That is, if the baby Bulls can mature a little bit, not be total assholes, and try to learn something.

Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

Pip helped run the show for ages, and chicago will be glad to have him back. It'll be nice to have a veteran with a few titles under his belt helping to run the show again.
