I love rugby too. I Played on my school team which really sucked coz all the kids except for me and a few others had no conception of team sports , always fuckin around and stuff , then i tried playing with a club for a season and I didnt really enjoy playing as much as the other sport i play, lacrosse. But still, Im always up to watch a good rugby union game. When I was in Bradford, England, the family my dad an I was staying with took us to see the Bradford Bulls play in a rugby league match. Great to watch in person, but needless to say League is no match for Union

I play for a club team, definately a great sport. I just wish they televised it more in the States. It seems like I never get to watch it.

I hope it's okay for me to post in such an old thread, but I just want to say that I got interested in rugby during the 2003 World Cup, but since it isn't shown a lot here in the States, I kind of lost track. But earlier this year (before the RWC), Dish Network got a new channel Setanta Sports. They were giving a free preview and then cut it off right before the the pool matches started, so of course I had to subscribe. I'm still learning the rules/terminology/etc, but it's such a great sport. The athletic ability of the players is tremendous. Anyways, not much to contribute except to say that rugby is awesome!

I grew up on rugby league but played union in school.

though i love league.. i disnt ming rugby union until the world cup this year when games were won on kicks and penalties.

mark my word...the 'running game' is dead. at least between two competitive teams.

its only a running game when the game is lopsided and england or austrlaia were playing some poor undeveloped island nation in the pacific

Whenever I can, I drop by the local coffee & donut shop because the owner there has the Setanta sports package. Along with F1 racing, I love rugby with a passion, but I need more exposure to it televised since A.) it is hard to come by in this locale, and B.) I do not own a TV. I did notice a year or two ago a very indistinct channel/network, perhaps called "mHz", on which they would show the friday night highlights of both the English and Australian rules sport, and also aired a live game following the coverage. But I have yet to rediscover it.

As of this past September, we have Setanta in Canada - while at first I was pissed because previously all the footy action was on for free on another channel and I now have to pay for Setanta, I'm now pleased because are getting a good amount of rugby as well, which we never had before.
