"List of books" thread + amazon associates as funding for TFP?
 

Not sure if this is viable, or even worth it, but I noticed on this thread:

That one thing which would be nice is a link to actually *buy* (or at least find more info on) the books people mention.

This led me to wonder about the amazon referrel program - if people posting books included an amazon link, with a "TFP Referrel" token, then anyone following the link and buying the book would cause a little cash to be thrown TFP's way.

Mods could go back and add the properly formatted links to books that people don't link to.

On the other hand, people might not appreciate their posts being used as (essentially) an amazon.com ad with a kickback to TFP. I wouldn't mind, personally, as long as the fact were mentioned in the thread.

(Also an option for links to books in the Tilted Entertainment forum)

Down with this. Hal's built us a really nice house. Likifying people's recommendations is not only within his rights, it's something that wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

if it automatically puts a hyperlink on the name of the book, thats cool. if it put hyperlinks in every post based on keywords, that is annoying.

This. Particularly if they're hover pop ups.

Let's not lose the idea that Linkifying Book Titles to Amazon with a kickback tag is both inoffensive and potentially profitable.
