Auto subscribe option

I think there should be an autosubscribe option that you can use. If you post in a topic you should be auto subscribed either down below where you have "show sig" and "email not" or in user options. There is already an option to get an email for every topic you post in so why not make it autosubscribe too? It would save a lot of work.

I came here to suggest this too, so I'll bump this one instead. Would this be too hard to implement?

Also, it would be good if the "rate this thread" drop down box could be moved, so that we choose a rating (if we are in a forum with rating, of course), select our options w.r.t emailing and subscribing, type in any reply, then hit ok on the whole lot. It would also get a lot more people to add ratings to threads, as we wouldn't have to go through and do them separately to posting/subscribing.

Edit: I would imagine this would also lower bandwidth usage a bit, as people wouldn't have to revisit threads immediately, or maybe I'm missing something?

There is an auto-subscribe option in your user control panel ('user cp' button above)

But it only works if you use the 'post reply' button at the end of a thread and not the quick reply text box...
(at the bottom right of the thread, 2 buttons: 'new thread' and 'post reply')

EDIT: thinking about this a little more: I might have misunderstood the suggestion. I understood it as: 'Email notification by default' (in user CP->edit options). If I'm wrong pleas elaborate...
So let's change the suggestion to:
Make auto-subscribe also work on 'quick replies' (or better yet, make it two seperate options)

Yep - that's what I meant. Having to go to the bottom of each thread and press the subscribe link is a bit annoying!

Also, with the introduction of the wonderful quickquote, I use the reply/quote page even less!

Yes, I believe the cp option is email notification.

New option in "User options"

Automatically add to "Subscribed threads" when creating a new thread...

I like to follow up on my posts... and, I'm lazy

Until then... hit the Search button in the upper-right corner, find "Search by User Name" down the right side, and enter your name. Bingo, there's all the threads you have posted in, listed in the order of most recent post by anyone. I always do this on the first TFP visit of the day.

I think the auto subscribe is a good idea, for new threads. Especially in areas such as the computers section, where people are asking questions & looking for answers, it would be good for the questioner to know when someone's answering. I was going to suggest having subscribe turned on when the users post a new thread, but I see someone beat me to it

I believe you can subscribe to a thread you are starting or replying to just by clicking the 'Email Notification' box in the Options area. At least, that's how I interpret its meaning. I think it's a good idea that whomever starts a thread should be subscribed to it, but I wouldn't want to force it on someone. Esp. if you start a popular thread in Nonsense.

Just a quick improvment to RL's suggestion - could an extra button be added "Search posts by my user name" - thus we just press that and find all our own posts easily?
Also, this issue has already been raised in thread http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...threadid=23229

I think it might be possible to create a bookmark to the search, but I haven't figured it out yet.
