Mother Boards

looking for a good mother board to upgrade with. AS far as intell v AMD im not to worried, but i wanna do duel core either way. cause im upgrading that as well.

anyways i've got a decent look on a few mother boards and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, tips, or things to go by to aid me.

don't wanna spend over 150 bucks

While Intel seems to be the way to go when it comes to dual core processors - there's so much more to consider when choosing a motherboard. How many drives are you going to run and how will they be connected? Sata or pata hard drives? How many graphics cards will you have installed?....

What are you going to use the computer for?

(also, is that an Immortal Technique quote in your signature)

haha it is, im too lazy to change things so thats been in there for a while

one drive, light gaming, wanna be able to do both sata and pata (for now) one card i think im gonna get this one

Radeon X1900 GT ($150, one of the best deals on the market)(thank u lasereth)

haven't decided on AMD or intell, but if im going duel im gonna take intell probably

uhmmm thanks for any addition help(i don't really wanna have to deal with a sloppy/hard BIOs either(not that anyone does)

Cant really suggest a exact motherboard but whatever you do dont skimp on what brand you get. my personal fav lately is asus but i have had good luck with gigabytes in the past as well. just need to find one with what you want on it.

pacaveli 01-07-2007 11:38 PM

nevermind on that don't feel like upgrading to ddr2 memory, thats too much for me at this point, so i think im going back to AMD now, their duel cores are still fast enough for what i need. so what kinda MoBo should i get for an AMD duel core processor

pacaveli 01-10-2007 06:35 PM

gotta go ddr2 anyway i look at it. And im going AMD AM2 chip, so im thinking about an AMD motherboard for around 150, thats got easy bios.

im thinking maybe this one, good reviews everything i need

Both kinda cheap, no-name brands IMO. Motherboard isn't someplace you want to go cheap. I'd get an Asus, Abit, or Gigabyte with Asus being my personal favorite.

pacaveli 01-13-2007 09:15 PM

i think im gonna end up gettin the second one

all the reveiws say it's a great bored, and im not looking to go for top of the line, just something better than what i have, which this board probably doubles

im running a amd 757 :/

Halx 01-14-2007 11:47 AM

Yikes, I would suggest going Asus or Gigabyte. Dont fool around with those no-name brands.

pacaveli 01-14-2007 01:01 PM

hmmm i'll see what elese i can dig up

i don't need SLI cause i really won't use it, so im thinking this may be a better choice
