FireFox: Clearing Search History without Form Info?

How do I clear my search history without clearing out form information? Why aren't they separate to begin with?

I haven't seen anything that tries to do that. Basic page fields, like searches, are just forms. Unless the idea of a form becomes more sophisticated it could be tough to differentiate the two and still keep track of forms as sites change. I bet there are many talks about this in the mozilla forums.

What you can do is go to specific fields and slowly wipe out any attached autocomplete entries.

As in:
Go to your address bar and type "g". You should get the list of "g" autocompletes. Hover over the first or hit down-arrow, then hit delete a bunch of times.

This works in page fields (forms), too.

You can do it with CCleaner. Once you've downloaded it you can click the applications tab and uncheck the saved form information box. It'll clear out your cookies and temp files for a wide range of programs and leave your form information intact.

Doesn't he want to clear out some form information? What say you Mike?

He wasn't very specific to begin with:

"...search history without clearing out form information?"

I understood it to mean that he wanted to clear out his search results and sites visited but keep his form entry info like entered logins and passwords. If that is what he meant then CCleaner should be effective.

CCleaner does not differentiate between searches and forms. It will not clean out what you entered into Google or whatever without cleaning everything else that you may have entered at the same time.

Ya your search history IS a form. Unless you use the box in the top right.

If you want to clear the box in the top right, right-click on it and select "Clear Search History"

Yup, I can clear out my googlebar. I realized search bars on websites were forms but I thought they were differentiated somehow. I guess not. Thanks anyway
