One-click Backup Solution
Hi Guys
I need to get some kind of desktop backup solution for one of our high-end (read dumb) users. Basically I need to be able to specify the folders needed for backup, specify the type of backup (prefer Differential, or whatever's the speediest), the destination for the files and be able to make a desktop icon to run the backup whenever he needs it. I've been looking into some free solutions but almost all the good ones save the data into a zip or rar file, which is not what I want to do. This user is running Vista Business on a Vaio TX series notebook, but if I can get my hands on a solution that works on both Vista and XP, that'd be a lot better. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks -healer |
windows has a built in backup utility that you can schedule.

I might also suggest Acronis software. I've used it before for personal and work related backups and it seems to do the job quite well.

i saw one on tech tv a few weeks ago. let me get my page.
it's called Snap backup. but you need java to work it. heres the link: http://www.snapbackup.com/ this was his recommended backup software. hope it works for you! |
Syncback is working very well for a number of my customers. It has all the usual backup/sync/copy options, it's quite stable, and it looks polished. A nice feature for your situation is it lets you drag a backup profile to the desktop to create a "run now" button. Granted, that can be done with just about any backup solution but the steps required usually mean your user will be calling you later.
The one big missing feature is open file backup, but they include that with the paid (SE) version. Give it a try. |
