corrupted AVI file

is there ANY way to salvage what is on the file?
I was doing a drawing for 2 hours and recording it with some POS program. when I clicked on stop recording, it decided to freeze. I flip out for awhile...then it comes to. Normally at the end it opens up the file to play it. This time it opens up with an error saying it cannot play the file.
I double click the icon that\'s on my desktop now for the file...Windows Media Player won\'t play it.

is there any hope?

There are a ton of video tools out there. First try Virtual Dub at http://www.virtualdub.org/

It may take you a minute or two to figure out how to use it, but it is free. Click the box "Ask for extended options" when you are opening the file.

If that doesn't work you may want to try a commercial tool ... they usually cost in the neighborhood of $30 though. Google "AVI repair".

Virtual Dub is a powerful program... I never learned how to use it properly though. Every once in a while I will screw up an AVI I encode, but VLC can play it. If it is so screwed up, VLC will prompt if I would like it to repair it. You might have luck.
