Ok, I duel boot both XP and Mandrake. I am trying to get a "home portal" from swbell to work on Mandrake. I ran connectdrak which seemed everything was going to work till the end when it had to prove it worked. I am about to call SWBell, I mean all I can loose is a hour of my life. I will give a link to a site the home portal makers. http://www.2wire.com/

On the 2wire website the homeportal is to the left.

Does the HomePortal work with Linux, FreeBSD, and other operating systems?
Answer

Installation of the HomePortal software on your first computer should be done on a computer running Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, or Mac 8.5 or higher. Also the HomePortal Monitor portion of the graphical user interface requires Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, or Mac 8.5 or higher. Other operating systems are not fully supported by 2Wire.

However, any computer capable of using a dynamically assigned IP address via DHCP can be used within a HomePortal network. This means that computers running any network capable operating system can benefit from the security and Internet sharing capabilities of the HomePortal. They also can point their browsers to the HomePortal Web user interface (http://homeportal). To use the HomePortal with an unsupported operating system:

1.

Verify that the DHCP server and the DNS (Domain Name Server) are stopped.
2.

Configure your system to run as a DHCP client.
3.

Connect the computer to the HomePortal network by way of HomePNA, wireless, or Ethernet.

NOTE:USB is not a supported method for adding computers running unsupported operating systems.
