Open VPN Problems -- Vista
Disclaimer: If there's a thread like this already, Dragon2Fire offered to eat my hat.
------------------------------------ I'm attempting to connect to a VPN via OPENvpn Software. I'm using Windows Vista, 64bit system. The task bar doesn't show all of the available options. It shows (from reverse order) Exit, About, Proxy Settings. It SHOULD show more options above the last one.... namely the "Connect" button. Downloads I've tried using: 2.0.9 2.1 RC12 2.1 RC9 2.1 RC4 The last two due to reading reports of those working. Anyone got any ideas?

VPN acts as (or is) a network driver, for it to work under Vista 64 bit you have to have a 64 bit version.
If you already have a 64 bit version of OPENvpn then my guess would be permissions. Best of luck, ZB

Computer Properties say its a 64 bit System.
Program Files.. i have two of'em... One is "Program Files" The other one that is used in majority is "Program Files (x86)" I thought I had a 64 bit version, and testing around with things if I put it in the non x86 section, it would fail to work due to specifically that, it was looking for x86. But again when in the x86 section, no connect options. I'm not entirely 'with it' on the x86. But would I need to not only find a 64bit version, but one that somehow recognizes the x86? Or would you say I have already and I've just got some other issue I can't figure out?

Your system is 64 bit. Your VPN software is not.
Progarm Files (x86) is part of a suite of legacy support features in 64 bit Windows (and, more widely, in 64 bit operating systems in general). It is for your old 32 bit x86 software designed to run on plain old x86 software. You need to make sure you find VPN software that explicitly supports 64 bit versions of Windows. I have no personal experience with OpenVPN, however a quick scan of their website has revealed that OpenVPN is only able to be run from an account with administrator privileges. If your account does not have admin privileges, this could also be the problem.
