I use to have a free application on my old computer that would play notes after the user placed them on a sheet of piano music. I can't remember the name of the app, but I remember it had a green icon. I'm trying to hunt it down for my new computer, but so far no luck. I remember it was a little clunky to use (you had to click and drag each individual note--very time consuming) but it was still a great music-learning tool. Could I get some help in searching it down?

There are a ton of notation apps (Finale, Sibelius etc). Was the one you had freeware? Can you remember anything about the name?

Denemo | Open source music notation editor

Denemo is a freeware WSIWYG program that generates Lilypond style scores, as well as MIDI files. It is a bit clunky, but Lilypond typesetting is the best out there.
